Mr Geoffrey Hampton Warren permanently disqualified from registration as a veterinary surgeon

Mr Geoffrey Hampton Warren, formerly a veterinary surgeon practising in Jamestown and surrounding districts, has been permanently disqualified from practising as a veterinary surgeon.

Mr Warren was disqualified by Order of the South Australian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (SACAT) on 7 September 2022.

SACAT Ordered as follows:

1.  There is proper course for disciplinary action against the respondent [Mr Warren] on the grounds that:

1.1. Between 26 August 2021 and 12 November 2021, the respondent was guilty of unprofessional conduct in that he:

            (a)   contravened or failed to comply with a code of conduct prepared endorsed by the Board under the Veterinary Practice Act 2003 (the Act);

            (b)   engaged in improper or unethical contact in relation to professional practice;

            (c)   was incompetent or negligent in relation to the provision of veterinary treatment; and

            (d)   contravened or failed to comply with the provisions of the Act.

1.2. The respondent is no longer a fit and proper person to be registered with primary registration under the Act.

2.  The respondent is reprimanded.

3.  The respondent’s general registration under the Act is cancelled.

4.  The respondent is permanently disqualified from both general and specialist registration under the Act.

5.  The respondent is prohibited from carrying on business as a veterinary services provider.

6.  The respondent is prohibited from occupying a position of authority in a trust a corporate entity that is a veterinary services provider.

7.  The respondent to pay the complainant’s costs of and incidental to the proceedings fixed in the amount of $20,000.
