Dr Daniel Humphrey is a highly experienced equine veterinarian – having practised on several continents and in both hemispheres of the world! A Board Member of HorsemedSA Pty Ltd, Director of Echunga Veterinary Investments Pty Ltd and member of Equine Veterinarians Australia.

Having graduated from the University of Cambridge in 1999, Dr Humphrey has since been in dedicated equine practice. He has worked at the world-renowned Greenwood Ellis and Partners (now known as Newmarket Equine Hospital) practice in Newmarket, the largest dedicated equine hospital in the UK. From there he moved to Hong Kong to become the senior equestrian vet for the Hong Kong jockey club.

Dr Humphrey’s arrived in the Adelaide Hills in 2012 and following a short period of practice, he established an independent ambulatory equine clinic which he operated for over 4 years prior to merging with HorsemedSA. An interest in all aspects of equine practice, particularly evaluation and treatment of lameness in performance horses and pre-purchase examinations, the VSBSA welcomes Dr Humphrey as a member.

Appointed to the VSBSA 14 January 2025 until 31 December 2027.

We aim to respond to correspondence, where required, within 20 working days of receipt.

Sometimes the matters raised in correspondence are complex and require detailed investigation in which case our response time will be longer.

There may be occasions where the issues you raise are outside our responsibilities. In this case we will refer you to the appropriate organisation or government department/agency. We encourage you to check to see if your issue is within our jurisdiction before you correspond with us. For example, if your enquiry relates to the ability of a veterinary surgeon to obtain, possess, prescribe or dispense Schedule 4 drugs, please direct your enquiry to the Office of the Chief Pharmacist: SAPharmacy@health.sa.gov.au.
